I hope everyone gets a chance to see this film.

Concerned that public opinion appears to be swinging away from climate change concerns, a group of filmmakers has produced Carbon Nation, a documentary about climate change solutions that also addresses how climate change can affect national and energy security and the benefits of a low-carbon economy. The film is playing in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Boston  and Austin; I plan to email Crowdstarter to set up a showing in Boulder, where I live.

The film’s promoters promise it is “an optimistic, solutions-based, non-preachy, non-partisan, big tent film” that appeals to people across the political spectrum. “While other good films have been about problems, blame and guilt, Carbon Nation is a film that celebrates solutions, inspiration and action,” its website states.

“We made this film for the folks who see solutions to climate change as a national security issue – we have a chapter solely on the green hawks in the Department of Defense,” the filmmakers state. “We made this film for people who simply see huge profits to be made in energy efficiency. We made it for the great many Americans who don’t want to be told they’ve done something wrong, but do appreciate clean air and clean water.”

Carbon Nation opened in New York, Los Angeles and Boston this month. It opens in Austin on February 25, Portland and Seattle on March 4 and San Francisco on March 11. Check out this great clip featuring one of our longtime heroes Van Jones.
